“It was regrettable. That was kind of an exchange with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the incorrect finger,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently done. This is sincere. Should you call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
